With more than 200,000 registered users, the GrowIt! app is a useful tool to the industry to help get into the minds of plant consumers.
The app’s users – from rookie to expert – receive help with plant ID, plant selection, color ideas, and container or bed design, to name a few. With just a quick review of the information provided on the app, it’s pretty clear to see that many consumers lack the most basic gardening knowledge. If you just said to yourself, “Well I know that,” then let’s step back a bit. Does the majority of the current plant marketing actually support that? Stop making assumptions about what people know, and provide plenty of info for novices.
During the past year and a half, GrowIt! has amassed more 2 million plant ratings, and tens of thousands of searches. Here are a few data points that could (or should) change the way the industry markets plants.
