Don McCorkle was recognized with a Georgia House Resolution.

Don McCorkle honored by Georgia General Assembly
Don McCorkle, founder of McCorkle Nurseries in Dearing, Ga., was recognized in February by House Resolution 115 by the Georgia General Assembly.

The resolution was given in honor of his selection as Nursery Management’s 2010 Grower of the Year.

The resolution was sponsored by House Ag Chairman Tom McCall. The resolution points to the nursery’s environmental stewardship and the development of the Center for Applied Nursery Research.

Scholarship money is available.

GIE Media, the leading media company serving the nursery, greenhouse, garden center, lawn and landscape, and golf course markets, has established a fund to support academic scholarships and business internship placements for outstanding college students focused on leading in the green industry.

To be eligible, the applicant must be enrolled at a recognized two- or four-year college or university working toward a degree in horticulture, environmental science or other field related to a segment of the green industry.

Applications must be postmarked April 15.
