Geum cocktail series
Intrinsic Perennial Gardens has introduced the fifth and sixth variety in its cocktail series of Geum, ‘Banana Daiquiri’ and ‘Cosmopolitan.’ ‘Banana Daiquiri’ is a fresh lemony yellow color held on fuzzy green stems while ‘Cosmopolitan’ features creamy white flowers drenched in rose pink edges on single and semi double flowers, all on burgundy-red stems. These new Geums start blooming in late April or May and continue for three to four weeks or more. The short clumping plants reach around 10 inches tall and wide with the stems reaching 18 inches tall or higher. The foliage is semi-evergreen. They’re hardy in USDA Hardiness Zones 4-9. These plants do their growing at the cool times of the season, so they can be planted in early spring or early fall.

First Editions Wildfire winterberry
Bailey Nurseries’ First Editions Wildfire winterberry features pure white flowers that deliver bright red fall fruit that lasts through early winter. Dark green foliage serves as a backdrop for the large berries. When winter sets in, Wildfire drops its leaves, leaving just the bright berries. Bring the branches indoors for great fall and winter decorating, or leave the berries to provide food for the birds. Wildfire’s compact, rounded shape makes it an excellent hedge or accent shrub. ‘Southern Gentleman’ is recommended as a pollinator. It grows up to 7 feet high and 8 feet wide. It’s hardy in Zones 4-9.
