Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Split Rock’

The dwarf Hinoki cypress provides textural interest for landscapes and containers.

This evergreen is somewhat small in stature, but big on charm. ‘Split Rock’ has both green adult foliage and blue juvenile foliage, giving the plant a wonderful, textural interest and making it the bluest selection of all the Hinoki cypress. It’s a dense, multi-stemmed selection that makes a statement as a specimen or as a focal point in a container.

Why grow ‘Split Rock?’

• Once established, it is drought tolerant, requiring little to no summer watering even during prolonged droughts, depending on the region.

• It adapts to a variety of soils, from sandy sites to clay, provided the location is well-drained.

• No reports of major pest or disease problems.

• It’s sometimes hard to find in the trade. This could be a plus in your favor, making it a high-value plant.
