Mukdenia
The new Dan Hinkley Collection by Monrovia includes a red-leafed Mukdenia (Mukdenia rossi) ‘Crimson Fans.’ This interesting plant has striking fan-shaped leaves that emerge bright green in spring, gradually changing to bronze-green with a bright red coloration. Blooming during the summer months, it produces panicles of white bell-shaped flowers. As a deciduous perennial, it prefers full sun to partial shade, and will slowly develop a clump 12 inches tall. This plant looks happy naturalized in a woodland garden or it can be displayed in a patio container. It’s hardy in USDA Hardiness Zones 4-9.
