Penstemon ‘Precious Gem’
‘Precious Gem’ from Intrinsic Perennial Gardens is a subtle selection with bronze new foliage in spring and pink flowers starting the beginning of June. The clumping plants reach around 36 inches tall and have red stems. After flowering, the stems hold on and stay red until fall, providing a third season of interest. Plants will grow in moist to well-drained soil in full sun. It is hardy in USDA Hardiness Zones 4-9. This new penstemon is a U.S. native.

Verbena ‘Princess Dark Lavender’
‘Princess Dark Lavender’ is from the Athens Select/Southern Living Plant Collection. This floriferous plant is a true garden performer with no breaking apart or bald spots. It has vivid green foliage against crowns of rich pale-purple blooms that form masses of color. Grows 4-6 inches tall and blooms spring until fall. ‘Princess Dark Lavender’ is ideal for use in pots, beds, window boxes, baskets and mixed plantings, and makes a great groundcover. This full sun plant is hardy to USDA Hardiness Zones 8-11.

Stokesia laevis ‘Elf’
Plants Nouveau introduces Stokesia laevis ‘Elf,’ a dwarf selection with vibrant, violet-blue blooms. The bloom centers on ‘Elf’ are domed, making them easily visible. It is one of the shortest, most compact selections with the darkest foliage. ‘Elf’ has exceptional heat and humidity tolerance and is good for use in borders, small urban gardens, mass plantings, container gardens and foundation plantings. Bloom time is from late June to August with continuous flowering. Hardy to USDA Hardiness Zones 5-10.

Hakonechloa macra Fubuki ‘Briform’
‘Briform’ is a new Japanese forest grass from Briggs Nursery. The contrasting tones of white and green foliage endure throughout the summer. It reveals a stunning pink color among the blades in the fall. Fubuki has a compact and mounding habit, and grows to 14 inches tall and 18 inches wide. It’s a great choice for beds, borders or as a specimen. It is hardy to USDA Hardiness Zone 5.
