On the Cultivate Nursery Production Tour, attendees will see some of the leading nursery grower operations in the Midwest. Learn about how these businesses maximize efficiency opportunities, manage complex supply chain logistics, and make upgrades to meet today’s business needs.
Make sure you grab breakfast beforehand or bring a bite to eat because you’ll be heading to Northeast Ohio, a 2-hour drive from Columbus. The bus tour begins at 7 a.m. and its stops include Willoway Nurseries, Petitti’s new Losely farm and Petitti’s Avon store.
Willoway Nurseries is one of the largest wholesale growers of quality nursery stock in the Midwest. Dive into crop-specific production tips for roses, Hydrangea macrophylla, and more, as well as field and liner trees. Then, take a stroll through their trial gardens to see these techniques at work. Explore how Willoway manages water quality, pest and disease control, fertigation and sanitation around the facility. Before you ship out from this location, you’ll also see how Willoway tags plant material and streamlines the shipping process on their docks.
Petitti’s manages a growing network of nurseries, greenhouses and retail locations across northeastern Ohio. See how they incorporate existing operations into their business at Petitti’s new location, the former Losely Nursery.
Editor’s note: Click here for more on how Petitti brought Losely into the fold.
Learn how the business manages both internal and external supply chains as they provide 95% of the plants sold at their retail locations in addition to supplying other area businesses. You will see their supply chain come full-circle when you visit Petitti’s Avon store – their flagship location – to discuss logistics of selling to retailers and getting plants to the shelf for consumer purchases.
