Diervilla splendens ‘El Madrigal’ USPPAF Firefly Nightglow Diervilla

Just like the remarkable twilight hour when fireflies light up the sky, intensely yellow flowers glow bright against the dark red foliage of Firefly Nightglow Diervilla. As the season fades, foliage color becomes more intense. Because Nightglow is compact and showy, plant it in mixed borders, along a walkway or as the star of a decorative patio container. It’s hardy to USDA Zone 4, prefers at least six hours of sun each day and grows 2-3 feet tall and wide with an upright, mounding shape. Growers, retailers and homeowners will each find something special in this truly improved novelty.

Hydrangea paniculata ‘Kolmavesu’ USPPAF Lavalamp FlareHydrangea

One glance at the fiery red blooms of LavaLamp Flare, and there’s no turning back. Just like the flame of a smoldering fire, it will attract stares from guests of your outdoor space. Compact and showy, Flare shines bright as the star of a crafted patio planter, in a mixed bed, or as the foundation of a stunning landscape design. White blooms age to a brighter red-pink than any other compact H. paniculata we’ve seen. Add Flare’s mature size of 2-3 feet and June through fall flowering season, and you get a recipe for green industry success.

Weigela ‘WoF/R’ PPAF Date Night Strobe

If you blink, you may miss one of the flashy colors of Date Night Strobe Weigela. From spring through autumn, you’ll see bright pink flowers against green and bronze – then orange – then crimson red foliage. The whirl of color is intense and beautiful, making Strobe an excellent choice for mixed borders or patio containers. Compact and low-maintenance, homeowners will spend less time on care and have more time for dancing or relaxing. Strobe Weigela is hardy to USDA Zone 4, likes full to part sun, and grows to 3 feet tall and wide.

Spiraea japonica ‘Matgold’ USPPAF Poprocks Rainbow Fizz

Bring a burst of color to your nursery or garden center with Poprocks Rainbow Fizz spiraea. Just like the nostalgic treat from childhood, the pop & fizzle of color combinations throughout the season is both surprising and fun. Foliage emerges copper, changes to yellow with red tips in spring, and then finishes with copper-red in fall. The fun doesn’t stop there; the candy-like flower buds start red and finish with a whimsical pink bloom. Rainbow Fizz is compact and easy to grow, so any homeowner can find a sunny spot in their landscape or patio, then plant, water, and relax.
