James Altland

James Altland is a research horticulturist with the USDA-ARS Application Technology Research Unit in Wooster, Ohio; James.Altland@ars.usda.gov. Through funding provided by the Floriculture and Nursery Research Initiative, Altland, James Owen Jr. at Oregon State University and Cheryl Boyer at Kansas State University have studied the feasibility of using these and other alternative substrates in containers.
