National Green Centre University will be free for show goers this year

Six sessions will be held on the trade show floor during the Jan. 8-9 event

Do you know what the new industry best practices are? 

National Green Centre University brings university and extension professors and researchers to the National Green Centre this year to present on the research and studies they are doing that will make your job easier and will cost your company less. 

The 2012 National Green Centre University will feature six sessions held on the trade show floor. These sessions are part of the FREE Exhibit Hall Pass (thanks to GIE Horticulture Group), so won’t cost you a thing to attend.

The program
1. Dr. Jason Griffin, 2011 Horticultural Odyssey: What Worked & What Didn’t, Kansas State University. Griffin is the Director of the John C. Pair Horticultural Center in Wichita, Kan., an applied research facility that works with essentially all horticulture crops such as trees, shrubs, fruits, vegetables and turfgrass. Griffin's research is primarily focused around woody plants. Griffin organizes National Green Centre University each year.

2. Dr. Cheryl Boyer: Growing Business with Social Media, Kansas State University. Boyer’s position is 75% extension and 25% research. She also co-teaches the course Nursery Management and she leads the Department’s exension programming for nursery crops. Follow Boyer on Twitter: @cherylboyer.

3. 3 Mini Presentations by graduate students:
a. Matt Wilson: Wilt Proofing Your Pines: What is K-State Doing About Pine Wilt
b. Josh Pool: Conifers in the Mid West … What’s It Going to Take
c. Zach Starr: Eastern redcedar: Field Pest or Substrate Gold

4. Dr. Chris Starbuck: Survey and Discussion of Imprelis Damage to Ornamentals, University of Missouri. Starbuck has an extension/research appointment dealing with woody ornamental plants. His research includes low-cost winter protection techniques for container-grown plants and methods for extending the planting season for bare-root trees and shrubs.

5. Joint session:
a. Judy O’Mara: 2011 Disease Highlights & Lowlights. O'Mara coordinates the Kansas State University Plant Disease Diagnostic Clinic.
b. Nicole Ricci: Are These Bugs Bugging You? Ricci is a Forest Inventory and Analysis and Forest Health Specialist with the Kansas Forest Service.
6. Dr. Raymond Cloyd: Systemic Insecticides: How Do They Kill Pests, Kansas State University. Cloyd is a Professor and Extension Specialist in Ornamental Entomology/Integrated Pest Management.
